The municipality of Morrinhos, according to the new Territorial Division of Brazil in Geographical regions, is an administrative unit that belongs to Microregion 015? Half Bridge. Is the Meia Ponte micro-region part of meso-region 05? South Goiano, located southeast of the capital of the State of Goiás between the coordinates of 17º30? 20 "at 18º05? 40" south latitude and 48º41? 08 "at 49º27? 34" west longitude. Its population was estimated at 36,942 inhabitants, according to the 2000 IBGE Census. Morrinhos has an excellent geographical location, it is right in the geographic center of the Meia Ponte micro-region, being very close to about 24 municipalities. The city is located at an altitude of 735 meters above the sea, and in the municipality the highest altitude does not exceed 800 meters. It has a mild and healthy climate, a humid tropical group. Climate

Flora

Nowadays, the region's flora has suffered from the extinction and genetic impoverishment, as in many other municipalities in the south of Goiás. The flora of the municipality, especially the riparian one, is extremely important for the maintenance environmental services such as groundwater retention.

The natural fertility of the soils is low occupying an area of ​​1,464.49 km², corresponding to 52% of the municipal area; Low and Average occupying an area of ​​777.99 km², 27.61%; Average to Higher Low occupying an area of ​​526.35 km², 18.68%; Average to High occupying an area of ​​46.79 km², 1.66%. Although not exploited, it has beryl, kaolin, chromite, talc, rutile, manganese, and clay, limestone and sand deposits. There are deer, pacas, caititus, among others the municipal rivers are very fishy.
